Terms of service

Last updated 2026-10-28

This is the version for institutions in the United States. See the Canadian version

These terms apply between [Company legal name] and each institution in the United States that uses Kehila, and its staff.

The service

Kehila lets an institution manage members, donations, pledges, receipts, emails and texts. We may improve or change features over time and will give notice of important changes.

Accounts

Staff are responsible for keeping their login private. The institution's owner controls who has access and with which role.

The institution's responsibilities

The institution is responsible for the information it enters, for having the right to use it, for the consent of the people it emails or texts, for its tax-exempt status, and for the accuracy of the tax receipts (written acknowledgments) it issues under its EIN.

Kehila helps prepare acknowledgments that follow IRS requirements (IRS Publication 1771) but does not provide tax or legal advice.

Payments

Online donations are processed by Stripe under Stripe's terms, in US dollars, and paid to the institution's own Stripe account. Card details never pass through our servers.

Fees

The subscription price and billing terms are those agreed with the institution. Card processing fees are charged by Stripe.

Your data

The institution owns its data. It can export it at any time. When it stops using the service, its data is deleted after a reasonable period, except records the law requires us to keep.

Availability

We aim to keep the service available and backed up, but it is provided "as is", without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the fees paid for the service in the previous 12 months.

Ending the service

Either party may end the service with notice. We may suspend an account that is used unlawfully.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state where the institution has its main office and by the federal laws of the United States that apply there.
